Meet the Maker is an ongoing series that showcases up-and-coming designers, artists and creatives. Meet Lianne Wessner, the maker behind the full line of goat milk soaps and skincare products called PUKAlily.

Who are you and what do you design?

My name is Lianne and I design goat milk soap and skincare with love and personality.

Tell us a bit about how you got you to where you are today.

I have been in love with nature and aromatherapy since I was a little kid “borrowing” rose petals from the neighbourhood to make buckets of perfume. So, it seemed only fitting that while looking for a career change after 20 years of multimedia, I came to create natural skincare. With a passion for the handcrafted and an intense desire to impact wellness and make a difference in people’s lives through the simplicity of nature and aroma, I created the nature infused skincare line, PUKAlily.

If you could choose one word to describe your collection what would it be.

Love.

Morning routine?

My morning routine is kind of all over the place with two teenagers and a puppy. My moment of zen is first thing in the morning with a warm cup of tea brought to me in bed by my hubby. Pure heaven.

Where do you find your inspiration?

My favourite place for inspiration is the ocean, but as a visual person I find inspiration everywhere! Thank god for iPhones and Post-it notes.

Tell us about maintaining a balance. Do you?

Ha, never! I have given up on that idea and instead just really soak up the fill-me-up moments when I can. I stay somewhat sane with creating, motion and family.

Is there a designer or brand with whom you’d love to collaborate?

I am in love with Uashmama!  A family-run company in Tuscany that creates handmade paper products linking tradition, craftsmanship and innovation.

What advice would you give someone who is looking to launch their own business?

You do not need to have it all figured out before you begin.  Trust in your idea and just start with what you have now.  There is magic in the mistakes you will make and they will guide your growth.

What’s next for you?

I am super excited about 2017 for PUKAlily!  An exciting collaboration, new designs, expansion and growth.
